Let it Grow: A Lesson from the Wisteria by NeuroSoul Rising

I planted a wisteria vine in my Zen garden. I had a vision — a graceful cascade of green wrapping the trellis, creating a sacred, shaded corner for stillness and beauty. Every day, for weeks, I’d go outside and gently move the vine, positioning it so it would hopefully cling to the trellis, grow strong, and fulfill its purpose.
But it wouldn’t. It resisted, drooped, or simply stayed still. Frustrated, I eventually gave up. I stopped checking on it.
Then, one day after a deep and peaceful meditation, I opened my eyes and looked toward the vine for the first time in a week. What I saw stopped me in my tracks: the wisteria had tripled in thickness and had wrapped itself around the trellis in a tight, strong spiral — just as I had envisioned. Only, it happened after I let go.
That moment hit me like a wave. How often do we do this in relationships? We see someone’s potential, their beauty, their strength. We want to help. We guide, nudge, and sometimes unintentionally control — all with the best intentions. But just like the vine, people grow best when they’re free to root, reach, and wrap themselves around life in their own way, in their own time.
Nature is always speaking. The question is — are we listening?
